Bosch Mastertech VCI Scan Tool Now Provides European Vehicle Coverage with Advanced ESI[tronic] 2.0 Software (04/13/2012)
Starting September 2012, automobile manufacturers will be required to comply with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) final rule (49 C.F.R 563) which requires manufacturers of cars and light trucks with vehicles that store Event Data Recorder (EDR) information in their ECUs during a crash to ensure that a commercially available tool is available to read out this information within 90 days of the first sale of a vehicle into the U.S. market. Broadview, IL — Bosch and Mazda Motor Corporation have entered into a license agreement to allow Bosch access to Mazda Event Data Recorder (EDR) system information, for the purpose of supporting Mazda automobiles with the Bosch Crash Data Retrieval (CDR) tool. (10/03/2011)
Automobile manufacturers, starting in September of 2012, will be required to ensure that new light vehicles equipped with an Event Data Recorder (EDR) in their Electronic Control Units (ECUs), allow EDR data to be retrieved by a commercially available tool, following a crash. This is in compliance with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) final rule (49 CFR Part 563), and manufacturers will be required to have this capability in place within 90 days of the first sale of such a vehicle into the US market. The Bosch Group’s Automotive Aftermarket business announced it has acquired RTI Technologies Co., Ltd. on December 07. RTI Technologies Co., Ltd. specializes in the development and distribution of automotive maintenance equipment including air condition service (ACS) machines. The company, based in York, Pennsylvania (USA), had sales of $12.0 million (8.6 million euros) in 2009 and employs 36 associates, all of whom will be retained by Bosch.
