BROADVIEW, IL, November 4, 2008 – Robert Bosch LLC and ALLDATA® plan new software solutions in the area of ECU diagnostics and repair/service information that will provide service shops in the US and Canada with a solution to increase shop efficiency and productivity. The first product prototype will be shown at the Bosch booth at AAPEX abd SENA. Availability is planned for 2009.
The vehicle repair market and the environment of shops in the US are changing dramatically. The increase of electronic components in modern cars and trucks, new safety features like ESP and ABS, and new generation high pressure diesel pumps providing increased fuel efficiency in modern trucks will change the work that technicians and shops will have to address. Moving from largely mechanical work to electronically-supported work is changing the playing field for today’s technician. Precise ECU diagnosis and the professional handling of the many electronic components in modern vehicles are absolute musts. Today, adjustment work in all areas requires a precision which was unimaginable only a couple of years ago.
Service shops will find it increasingly challenging to handle the complexity of these cars and trucks. They must be able to do a job quickly, efficiently, and right the first time in order to compete. Only if they have the right tools, the right information, proper training, and support will their shops have the critical elements in place with which to establish a foundation for efficiency and productivity.
On the tool and software side, today’s shops need multiple tools and additional software programs for repair and service information to solve these issues. The new software solution from Bosch and ALLDATA® will equip repair shops with a new tool to help them become more competitive in the marketplace by having quick and easy access to accurate repair information that is critical for the efficiency and productivity of their daily operations.
